Job Description — Integrated Media Planner (Digital Focus)

Raleigh, NC 



We’re looking for a semi-seasoned Integrated Media Planner to join a scrappy team of change agents who specialize in helping emerging and challenger brands transform from unknown to unstoppable.  Candidates should either specialize in digital media planning or have experience in all aspects of media planning (traditional, digital and all the placements that fall in between).

Responsibilities & Requirements

Media planning & management:

  • Conducting secondary research to identify how, where and when target audiences are consuming content and in many cases, identifying specific DMAs for market and regional campaigns
  • Developing appropriate media strategies and media approaches based on consumer and media research findings
  • Developing full media plans including planning, negotiating, buying, implementation and management  
  • Developing and managing relationships with multiple media vendors and partners 
    • Including contract negotiations, working with accounting to appropriately set up new vendors in our payment systems and ensuring budget allocation per vendor is appropriately tracked
  • Working closely with the account services and creative teams to identify any creative execution needs
    • This includes ensuring the team has a clear understanding of the types of assets, number of assets, specific spec and formats, etc…. Needed to make the campaign a success
  • Working closely with consumer insights and strategy to ensure media execution aligns with consumer insights and greatest opportunity areas identified through research
  • Working closely with Creative to brainstorm unique executions

Media Budget Management:

  • Ensuring media plans remain within budget, inclusive of agency commissions and any media partner commissions that need to be accounted for within the budget
  • Reviewing and approving monthly media invoices prior to payment
  • Monthly Budget Forecasting & Reconciliations
    • Ensuring account services and accounting have monthly budget spend forecasted for the campaign
    • And the reconciliation of monthly spend based on actuals

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Weekly Monitoring, Reporting and Optimizations:
    • Collects weekly performance highlights and any recommended optimizations.
    • Watches the performance of media vendors closely to ensure outcomes are on target, performing at or above industry average 
    • Identifies any red flags,  vendor changes, or reallocation of funds that could benefit final results and reports these recommendations to Director, Digital Strategy and Chief Digital Strategist as needed for approval
    • Works closely with our data analyst to review weekly optimization recommendations against additional KPIs, determines final weekly optimizations, and follows through with vendors to ensure those optimizations are implemented
    • Supports data analyst in developing weekly snapshot reports for clients 
  • Monthly Monitoring, Reporting and Optimizations
    • Works closely with our data analyst to pull campaign performance metrics on a monthly basis and supports the development of a more detailed report that doesn’t just provide the client with numbers, but that also tells the story of how the campaign is impacting the bottom line and ways in which we can amplify any success
      • Get excited over-identifying relevant insights & opportunities for improvement by evaluating important metrics that affect clients KPIs, impressions, click-thru rates, engagement, etc…
      • Work closely with our data analyst, Director, Digital Strategy and/or Chief Digital Strategist to uncover any big optimizations or campaign changes that may require client approval

Research & Identity:

  • Monthly research on the latest trends and technologies affecting the media space
  • Look for the “what ifs” — regularly identify and presenting opportunities to bring new ideas to the team


Our ideal candidate has

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in digital media planning
  • Has an understanding of how to develop and execute both linear and digital media strategies
  • Has the ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Has experience managing linear and digital media for brands across multiple media mediums
