For 48-years Music & Arts Center was a family owned business that grew from selling lesson plans to local schools into a national chain of instrument retail locations with a few lesson rooms in the back. Their internal mantra: We’re a friend to educators, safe to parents and cool to kids. The brand needed a refresh.
During research with kids, we were struck by how much they doodled. On their papers, on themselves, on each other — literally everywhere. We were suddenly reminded of something grownups quickly forget: When you’re a kid, you have no voice.

By simply restructuring the brand’s internal mantra to be “cool to kids, a friend to parents and a friend to educators,” we put kids first — where they belong – and helped them realize the value of music as a path to self-expression and independence.
The campaign returned a 19.5% Y1, YOY Sales Increase. Additionally, our assistance in redesigning MAC’s in-store experience helped boost lessons and decrease new store time to profitability by 17%.
